Building an action focused culture

Building an action focused culture takes time and can’t be achieved by one or two training courses, in fact is can’t be achieved by 100’s of training courses

Do you have an action focused culture within your organisation?

Do you want one?

One day courses don’t work!

Now, as a professional training consultant and business manager, I recognise that this is quite a contentious headline, but I’d like you to think about this for a moment please.

They’re great to train in a new product or get people thinking but once it’s over the learners go back to the chaos of daily work and personal life and the information tends to be forgotten within around 48 hours after the session.

After 20 years of delivering training courses to a wide range of companies and organisations throughout the UK and mainland Europe I’ve come to the conclusion that the only training that works are training programs.

Most training programs are far too expensive. Our isn’t! Our 12 Month Action Focused Leadership and Management Program is sold to you under license and we train your team to deliver them.

Training programs show the learners how committed the company or organisation is to the development of the individual. Our training program the 12 month Action Focused Leadership and Management Program holds the learners accountable for the actions they set themselves. These actions are assessed by the tutor and their peers at the beginning of the following session, at the end of the program, and during the learners monthly one to one and annual appraisal meetings with their managers.

The program covers everything managers and team leaders need to know to start building a more highly productive team.

Building an action focused culture

Building an action focused culture takes time and can’t be achieved by one or two training courses, in fact is can’t be achieved by 100’s of training courses. The first thing the team need to do is make the decision. They need to decide that they want an action focused team of self-directed team members who are capable of making their own decisions, creating their own goals and taking responsibility and accountability for their own actions.

Learners who have sat the program have produced amazing results. They’ve learnt:

  1. To change their management style to suit the person they are managing rather than expect their team members to change to suit the manager
  2. To manage their time, energy and interruptions. One manageress saved 2 hours per day!
  3. To communicate more effectively by understanding DISC psychometric testing
  4. To recruit the best fit into the right position based on capability and core values
  5. To manage change effectively using a 5-stage goal orientated change management system
  6. To use performance improvement plans as a positive development tool
  7. To manage conflict effectively by recognising needs
  8. To deliver effective coaching sessions (by listening)
  9. To hold meetings that matter and implement a purposeful appraisal system
  10. To take action

Here’s some recent feedback from a leadership session we delivered:

What a great day in Leadership Training yesterday with our management team. Thank you to Adrian Close for an inspiring training session. Some great takeaways I'd like to share:

  • Don't manage your time, manage your energy
  • What you permit, you promote
  • Don't expect them to change for you, change for them

By understanding the different personality types and behaviours in your team, can help you work together better to achieve that one centric goal.

If you concentrate on the performance the results take care of themselves. The results, of course, will be at a higher level if the values of the company and the people who work for it are aligned.
