One of my 3 core values is SUPPORT, and I am dedicated to assisting those in need. Weather it’s new and aspiring managers to become everyone else’s favourite manager or to give every inner-city child the opportunity to be inspired and motivated by the rugged outdoors and the challenges mountain environments have to offer.

I have recently partnered with the Mountain Training Trust (Plas y Brenin), which collaborates with the Mountain Adventure Fund (MAF), with the aim of enabling 200 children across the UK to participate in one-week outdoor activity courses in 2024.

Part of my commitment to the Trust is also to volunteer 2 weeks a year of my time to assist and support the instructors and teachers for the residential outdoor activity weeks.

For every one of my in-person training courses booked and delivered and team member booked onto the 12-month online academy, I commit to allocating a percentage of the fee (without raising my prices) to help run these courses - for every 10 courses booked funds one child to attend a week’s course. Your team will be acknowledged for this contribution during the training.

Hi, I’m Adrian Close, management and leadership growth specialist, author, expedition trekker and people development fanatic.

My business development and management career started in then large leisure and sports centres, then large bars and restaurants, and then retail (always customer facing and always very busy). The teams I have managed have varied from 15 to around 55 (as a manager and business owner) and around 1000 in an area role (managing 22 managers).

My focus has always been on People, Planet and then Profit (in that order).

On 21 September 2019 I created Ultimate Leadership Training Ltd with the sole goal of helping businesses and organisations create a culture where it's normal for the new generation of managers and aspiring managers to lead and manage their teams with compassion, empathy, drive and enthusiasm and to not feel trapped by the old ways of leadership that no longer work.

I strongly believe that if you concentrate on the performance of your team members (at every level) the results will take care of themselves. The results, of course, will be at a higher level if both the values of the organisation and those that work for it are aligned - This belief was inspired by Ben Hunt-Davies and sits at the heart of all the training I deliver and teams I manage.

The Ultimate Leadership Training Team consists of 5 other team members. Firstly there's our fabulously well organised VA and secondly our four highly qualified and awesome training consultants who take on the courses I can't fit into my very busy diary or deliver the courses I am not qualified to deliver.

Leading and managing teams of People should be a pleasure not a chore

I personally don’t believe that people are born leaders. I think it’s something that everyone can learn and develop (over time) and once your team members get it, no matter what stage of their career they are at – that’s where and when the magic happens!

I believe that all management and leadership training needs two things:

  • It needs to be continuous and come with additional ongoing coaching and support where and when needed
  • The learners need to be held accountable for achieving the training goals and then become the organisation's future mentors.

And the Mission Continues...

I now train and support new and aspiring managers to become everyone's favourite manager (Yes I believe this is possible) and encourage them to lead with emotional intelligence and a strong set of personal core values at the heart of everything they do.

When I say everyone's favourite manager, the everyone refers to themselves, their team, their friends, their family, their managers, their HR manager, their customers, their suppliers, the planet and the bottom line.

I appreciate all managers wear lots of different hats and are required to spin lots of different plates (it can feel like a circus at times 🙂). I've been there and was developed to do the same, that's how I can build a rapport quickly with the learners who sit on my courses or join the 12 Month Online Growth Academy - they know I get them, they know I know where they are now and where they want to be!
