Leadership Skills Course

According to our research, there are 10 top leadership attributes which make a successful leader. The learners on the course discuss these 10-top leadership attributes and rate themselves against them. The goal after the discussion is to rate themselves (out of 10). Whenever you ask someone to rate themselves out of 10 the average is 7. So, for any scores below 7 is what we then work on.

A Breakdown of the leadership Skills Course:


Session 1

The Introduction to Leadership

09:30 - 11:00

After the introductions and housekeeping we go straight into an awesome creative thinking activity to set the tone for the day and get everyone comfortable working in groups. 

We then look at the top attributes of great leadership, compare them to well know leaders and get the learners to rate their own skills




Session 2

The Vision and the mission steps

11:15 - 12:30

After a short comfort break we identify the organisations vision and work on 12 monthly steps to achieve an annual statement of intent.

We then look at Daniel Goleman's 6 leadership styles. We'll see some of these in action during the activity after lunch




Session 3

Leadership in action

13:00 - 14:45

The leadership skills activity we use turns a standard leadership course into the best leadership skills course - in fact the I'd pay the £99 just for this activity.

During the activity it is possible to see the 6 leadership styles in action which can be fed back after the activity




Session 4

Emotional Intelligence

15:00 - 16:30

After our last quick comfort break its time for the emotional intelligence test

We don't just include the test for the sake of it, it forms the biggest takeaway for the learners to work on after the course has finished.

Their managers can then assess the learners throughout the year and witness "leadership growth"


And the learning doesn't finish at 16:30, the course does but the learning doesn't! We finish the day with a summary and a review of the two self-development goals the team set themselves to work on over the following months. Their manager can use these during the one to one meetings to measure growth - The course is awesome, you'll love it!

There are two leadership skills tests within this leadership skills course. The first, just before the morning break, is about the test that all leaders should take. This is the one that the learners mark themselves against and if they score below 7 they work on a plan for improvement. It's a great eye opener and always goes down well during the session. 

The second leadership skills test we do during the course (and you get it included in the course fee) is an emotional intelligence test. This test scores the leaders on the following traits:

  • Self-awareness
  • Self-regulation
  • Motivation
  • Empathy
  • Social skill
