90 Minute delegation skills Training session

Delegation is much more than telling others what to do, it’s a people development tool. It is about using a particular style of leadership that empowers others to take responsibility and improve decision making. It develops team members skills and knowledge and makes full use of their potential.

Delegation is about entrusting others with your authority and whilst you retain overall responsibility if something goes wrong, they are entrusted and encouraged to make decisions. Delegating is a key skill all management and leadership teams need to develop.

  • Effective delegation creates time for managers to complete their tasks, develops and motivates their team members

  • Delegation is a very effective tool when succession planning
  • Delegation is a style of management used for team members in the fourth stage of team development, which we cover in the "Building a High Performing Team” session

The key content of this 90 minute delegation skills training session:

  • Identifying the advantages of delegation as a development tool
  • The steps of effective delegation
  • Establish what can and can’t be delegated
  • Delegation preparation
  • Questions and feedback 


Objectives:

By the end of this 90 minute delegation skills session your learners will be able to:

  • Explain the steps of effective delegation
  • Use leadership styles that empower others to take ownership and responsibility

  • Delegate effectively using explained techniques


Timings and Information

  • The sessions are 90 minutes long with an optional 30 minutes additional Q and A with the tutor at the end for those that want to hang around
  • The session is for up to 12 learners (which is why we don't charge per person, prices include the session, an experience tutor and materials)
  • We are flexible on the times but recommend the following (GMT): 08:00, 11:00 and 14:00
  • We recommend a monthly follow up and coaching session (on-line), with the same tutor, one month after the session to ensure action and accountability for the tasks the learners set themselves
  • If it suits your needs better you could always organise 3 different sessions per day for your team to choose the best time for them and we'll co-ordinate the rest
  • If relevant, all pre-course activities will be forwarded to the session organiser to be distributed to the leaners a week before before the session to allow to for completion
  • All the handouts will be forwarded to the session organiser to be distributed to the leaners after the session
